Into the Wild #2 : The Sequel Prompt

I am one hundred percent positive that Chris was fully aware of how unprepared he was, and that he definitely intended to live until he perished in the Alaskan wilderness. I believe that he thought that he was capable to survive judging by how factual his tone was even in his last note fastened to the bus. In essence, Chris knew that his 'Alaskan Odyssey' could be the end of his existence, but he continues with it anyway, and I think that shows us his true stubborn and determined personality.

I applaud how Krakauer opened the legacy of Chris McCandless with the end. It captured my curiosity, and left me wondering why and how this young man ended up in the Alaskan wilderness. The purpose behind this, from my perspective, is to recreate the same interest that Krakauer discovered in Chris. Kakauer was enthralled by Chris after he wrote his editorial. So logically, it makes sense for him to share how he first encountered Chris and then explain his long winding tale.

After reading this quote I was stunned by how someone who was slowly starving to death could be so coherent, and even worried that while he was out someone may stop by. Honestly, if I was in Chris' position I would not have been concerned with leaving a note while I scavenged. I imagine that by that point I would be stark raving mad.

  1. I felt the same thing. From Chris fully aware he was unprepared to loving how Jon Krakauer wrote the book. I never thought of why the author wrote it in such way, but it makes sense.

  2. I agree 100% with your blog. You shoned a new light on the second question which didn't cross my mind and I like your respond more than my own. Thanks for the extra details and information that I didn't see.

  3. I agree with the whole blog except for the S.O.S part. Leaving the note might've made people wait for him had they stopped. I think he had the whole thing down. But then again, that's just one perspective.

  4. I agree with just about everything you said except about him knowing he was unprepared i felt as if though he thought he was prepared because he is an intelligent guy and probably knows enough about the ALaskan bush to know whether or not he was prepared. I do however think that he could've brought more with him than the bare minimum to survive
