Positive
1. determined
2. intelligent
3. charismatic
Negative
1. stubborn
2. oblivious
3. defiant
These traits influence Chris in a positive way because they are the only reason why he survived so long during his tramp life. He was described as a likable person, eager to work and help out. Not only did his charisma give people a chance to attach to him, but he was intelligent and was an interesting guy from what I have learned so far. Regardless, e was riding on luck, and the kindness of others entire time he was wandering.
As result, he's negative traits are the reason for his demise. There are countless examples where his own stubbornness caused serious issues for him, number one being his lack of provisions for the great venture into the Alaskan wilderness. Secondly, we know that if Chris had accepted Franz as a makeshift parent, grandparent, or any type of nuclear relationship that it would have meant the world to Franz, yet the fact that McCandless was so oblivious really exemplifies how selfish of a person he really was.
Finally, the most important characteristic I believe Chris possesses is his naturally defiant nature. The perfect example is Chris's experience at McDonald's. Immediately after his shift he would rip the socks off his feet. In addition, Chris' complete journey is a result of his defiant nature. He renounced his family and deliberately ignored them all for his own benefit. All in all, Chris' defiant and selfish characteristcs are the reason for his odyssey and demise.

Chris' attempt at Conventional Life and Anaylis of his Relationship
My reasoning behind why Chris applied for the job at McDonald's is that he was uninterested in his tramp lifestyle. After a while everything all starts to see meaningless, and if that's the reason why you took off then it really starts to affect you. It makes it seem like you are back where you started, your life is just as monotonous regardless whether or not you are living in one place or constantly on the road. Chris tried McDonald's because it is the epitomy of everyday American life, and if he is going to attempt to set in to a average life then why not go for the gold.
Chris' colleagues all had distinct opinions of Chris. Most agreed that he was quirky, and one of his co-workers recalled that Chris despised socks. It was policy to wear socks so after his shift he would immediately rip them off his feet. This I believe is a small way for Chris to get back at McDonald's. Like his co-worker informs us that he would not submit to them on his own time. Another reason why Chris had issues while working at McDonald's was that he was too detail oriented. At McDonald's it is not about quality, as we all know, this did not sit well with McCandless so eventually he knew he would have to quit.
Chris has such a deep relationship with Jan and Bob Burres because they feel connected to Alex. Since they have lost all connections with their son, they feel like Alex was their second chance to repent make everything alright. I think that Alex did enjoy having someone care about him, no matter how harsh he treated his family he was glad to find new people that cared about him.
Franz was absolutely affected the most out of all of the people that alex came in contact with. We witness this when Franz actually takes Alex's advice and begins his own tramp life. I believe Franz had the same complex with Alex as the Burreses. He feels responsibilty for Alex becuase he was unable to save and protect his family in their time of need. So Alex was a second chance for many of the people he connected with.

I am appalled by the note that Chris leaves for his Family. I am stunned that his conscience thought that this was an acceptable goodbye, with him evening knowing that this could be the last thing that his family hears from him. I suspect that Chris's parents are just so used to dealing with his quirks and idiosyncrasies that they figured this was just another scheme. His intent was to distance himself from society and live the rest of his life in his Alaskan paradise.
In order to go through such extremes in order to disappear, I believe that Chris acted as such due to an overload of pressure from all the outlets in his life. After years of being socially repressed, I believe that Chris could no longer conform to the demands of society. So his flight is a result of his need to discover his own individuality.

Into the Wild #2 : The Sequel Prompt
I am one hundred percent positive that Chris was fully aware of how unprepared he was, and that he definitely intended to live until he perished in the Alaskan wilderness. I believe that he thought that he was capable to survive judging by how factual his tone was even in his last note fastened to the bus. In essence, Chris knew that his 'Alaskan Odyssey' could be the end of his existence, but he continues with it anyway, and I think that shows us his true stubborn and determined personality.
I applaud how Krakauer opened the legacy of Chris McCandless with the end. It captured my curiosity, and left me wondering why and how this young man ended up in the Alaskan wilderness. The purpose behind this, from my perspective, is to recreate the same interest that Krakauer discovered in Chris. Kakauer was enthralled by Chris after he wrote his editorial. So logically, it makes sense for him to share how he first encountered Chris and then explain his long winding tale.
After reading this quote I was stunned by how someone who was slowly starving to death could be so coherent, and even worried that while he was out someone may stop by. Honestly, if I was in Chris' position I would not have been concerned with leaving a note while I scavenged. I imagine that by that point I would be stark raving mad.

Into the Wild Blog #1
Chris McCandless, in my opinion, was borderline obnoxious. He was definitely entitled to his choice of whether to live in society or on the road; however, it is the way that he distanced himself from his family and friends that annoys me. There may be a reason why he resents them so much, but that doesn't make it fine for Chris to disappear without moments notice. On the other hand, my impression of Alexander Supertramp is that he is a hard working, and ready for adventure. It is puzzling how the same person can have such a dramatic change of personality, but perhaps Chris was always Alexander Supertramp and it was only after his graduation from college that he was able to grow and discover himself, even if it led to his demise. All in all, McCandless may have been percieved as crazy, but I believe he was just a boy who needed a little bit of fresh air.
